About Pago Aylés

The vineyard site has a long history of winemaking, dating back to the 12th century by Spanish monks. The unique terroir is influenced by the River Huerva, a tributary of the eastward-flowing Ebro, and the imposing Monte San Pablo mountain. The soil is a mixture of clay, limestone and chalk, which is ideal for making high-quality wine. Caves, ravines and old river beds can be found all over the estate and it is brimming with wildlife.

The “Pago” appellation is a distinct designation from the traditional appellations of origin. Today, there are only 20 unique Pago’s in Spain. Pago can be most easily defined as “single estate wine”, with the estates carrying pago status having been identified as one of the “great estates of Spain”.

Featuring Organic Estate Wines:

Chardonnay, Rosé, Tempranillo and two single plot blends, one of which was recognized on Decanter's Top 50 Wines of the World and received 97 points.

With Special Guest Fernando Reyes Pariente:

Born and raised in Zaragoza, Fernando graduated from the ESAE Business School specializing in Business Management & Marketing. After that, he earned a Master in Winemaking, Viticulture and Wine Marketing.

He then moved to southwest France where he tasted many wines and learned about different appellations of origin like Bordeaux, Madiran and Jurançon. He started his career in the appellation of origin Somontano in the north of Spain, but his life has always been related to wine, even when he was a child and helped his grandfather harvest their old Garnacha vineyards. After those experiences and looking for wineries that work with indigenous grapes, he joined Bodegas Borsa in Campo de Borja appellation for 5 years.

In 2012 he took up the challenge of managing Pago Aylés export department, the only winery in Aragon that holds the status of Vino de Pago, an amazing and young project where all people share the love for the terroir.
